Free refreshments will be available and a silent auction featuring a bicycle, GrassRoots tickets, local gym membership and more will take place. The potential designs for the new playgrounds will be available, as will playground committee members who can answer questions and take comments.

All proceeds from the event will go toward building the new playground at Trumansburg Central Schools. For more information, contact Deb Austic at austicloz@hotmail.com or Ann DiPetta at adipetta@twcny.rr.com.

Live nativity

Calvary Baptist Church will present its annual Live Nativity event from 5-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7. It is a drive-through event and will begin at the Trumansburg Fire Hall.

Share the warmth

The Trumansburg Rotary is collaborating with the Rotary Clubs of Ithaca to collect used coats, outerwear and blankets for Tompkins County residents in need. Two bins are located in Trumansburg to collect items: one at Tompkins Trust Co. and the other at ShurSave. The deadline to donate is Sunday, Dec. 7.

Bell ringers needed

The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to ring bells for Christmas kettles. More help is needed as the Army has experienced a 15-20 percent increase in requests for assistance this year.

Funds raised through Christmas kettles not only provide toys for the holiday season, but are used year-round to send youngsters to summer camp, assist with emergency food and clothing, and offer backpacks for needy students.

Bell ringing can be done at the convenience of your schedule. Sign up by calling Ann Russell at 387-8464.
