Hilby the Skinny German Juggle Boy will perform at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at the corner of Main and Union streets. Main Street will be closed from Washington Street to South Street that evening for the Tru-Ulysses Winter Festival.

Hilby is renowned for his comedic antics and is a longtime favorite at festivals and events in the area. The Mouse King, godfather Drosselmeyer from the Nutcracker Ballet, and a few other surprise visitors will appear as well. Music
The Ulysses Philomathic Library will kick off the Winter Festival weekend with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4. Trumansburg pianists Connor Burgevin and Kyle Van Delden will perform in the library's great room. Wassail and goodies will be served following the event.
Photo exhibit
Sarah Oros, a junior at Charles O. Dickerson High School, will exhibit her photographs at Trumansburg Optical on Main Street during December. Oros, who is rarely seen without her camera, has been taking photos for several years and is noted for discovering a unique perspective in her subjects. This will be her first public display.
The show will open along with the Tru-Ulysses Winter Festival at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Light refreshments will be served.
After-sale
Jacksonville Community United Methodist Church will have an after-Bazaar sale in the schoolhouse, for one day only, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 6. Christmas items, toys, church crafts, housewares and knick-knacks will be available. The church is on Route 96 between Ithaca and Trumansburg.
Historical society event
The Ulysses Historical Society invites the public to the museum on South Street from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Local exhibits, clothing and artifacts showing Asian influences, including a trimmed Christmas tree and the American Flyer electric train, will be available for viewing. Cookies and Russian tea will be served. The museum will close until April following the event, but staff can be reached from 9-11 a.m. on Mondays at 387-6666.
Broken bone benefit
A benefit and bake sale will start at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Rongovian Embassy to raise funds for Axel Potts and Lilly Koken; both were badly injured recently in separate accidents. Toivo will start the music off, followed by more local musicians, still to be announced. DJ Tyrone will go on at around 8:30 p.m. A raffle drawing for tattoos, local artwork, a yoga session, massages, 2009 GrassRoots tickets, gift certificates to local shops and more will take place. If you would like to donate to the bake sale, items can be dropped off at 3 p.m. at the Rongovian Embassy.
