Cayuga Nature Center plans College Weekend

The Cayuga Nature Center will host a College Weekend 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8 at the center, 1420 Taughannock Blvd. (Route 89). Any college student with a student I.D. will be admitted to the center for free and learn about the internship and summer job opportunities offered every year at the center, as well as visit the animals and hike the trails.


Each semester students in a variety of majors and concentrations complete internship credit at the Cayuga nature Center. Positions for undergraduate and graduate students are in fields such as biology, writing, marketing and public relations and administration, as well as outdoor, environmental and adventure-based education. Staff can also work with prospective interns to design a program to suit specific education needs.

The Cayuga Nature Center also offers nine weeks of summer day camp and will be hiring camp counselors, educators, life guards and helpers for a variety of daily tasks and preparation, and will need help with gardening, landscaping, and other outdoor projects.

The Cayuga Nature Center is a member-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to cultivate awareness, appreciation and responsibility for the natural world through outdoor and experiential education. More information is at 273-6260 and www.cayuganaturecenter.org.
