Fall Creek Elementary School first-grader Julian DeMello is helped into a spacesuit by teacher Abigail Bokaer during his allotted time to play in the class spaceship, background.

Bokaer, who team-teaches with Chris Bell, is using the space exploration theme throughout subject areas in the fall. The classes will pay a visit to the Fuertes Observatory at Cornell University as a part of the unit.

The spaceship was built from a refrigerator box by parent Paul Colucci and decorated with control panel drawings by the students.
