The potential for biomass district heating in Tompkins County and its role in creating jobs and affordable housing will be addressed by Thomas Lund-Hansen, the featured speaker at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County's 2009 annual meeting and local foods breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Lund-Hansen is Vice President of 7Technologies, a member company of the Danish District Heating Board that has planned and developed hundreds of district heating systems around the world, and is one of the leaders in moving Denmark from being a net energy importer to a net exporter. He has more than 20 years experience in the global energy industry and is currently heading up the Danish District Heating Board's entry into the Northeastern U.S. market.
The event will be held from 8-10 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Downtown, 222 N. Cayuga St. Tickets are $10 per person and include a breakfast buffet of primarily local foods. Retiring CCE board and program committee members also will be recognized, and a brief business meeting to elect new board members will follow.
More information and a response form may be found online at ccetompkins.org. Tickets may be purchased at the CCE Education Center, 615 Willow Ave. or charged by phone at 272-2292. Reservation deadline is Friday, Nov. 13.
