SCHENECTADY -- The 10th-ranked Cornell women's hockey team recorded its second shutout of the season, defeating Union 4-0 on Friday at Messa Rink.
Laura Danforth scored a pair of goals for the Big Red, which also got goals from Melanie Jue and Hayley Hughes. Karlee Overguard had a pair of assists, with Danforth, Amanda Young, Kendice Ogilvie and Amber Overguard chipping in assists.
Cornell got on the board at the 5:55 mark of the first period when Jue scored a power-play tally from Danforth.
Danforth made it 2-0 just 90 seconds later off an assist from Ogilvie as the Big Red went to the intermission up by two.
Cornell went 3-for-4 on the power play for the game and was not whistled for a penalty.
The win lifted the Big Red to 3-2 on the year and 3-0 in ECAC Hockey action, while Union fell to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.
