Duo helps Glen clinch girls basketball division

Behind 20 points from Taylor Chaffee and 19 from Marissa Pike, the Watkins Glen girls basketball team clinched the Interscholastic Athletic Conference's Large School South Division title Friday with a 63-40 victory at Newark Valley.


Jennifer Celiberti had 11 points for Newark Valley.

The Senecas (13-2) are 12-1 in their division.

* Lansing 54, Whitney Point 22: The visiting Bobcats (15-0) outscored the Golden Eagles 20-2 in the first quarter en route to victory at Whitney Point (3-11).

Ellyn Grant Keane led the way with 15 points and Jocelyn Ford chipped in 14 for Lansing.

McKay Ross had eight points for Whitney Point.

* O-M 51, Newfield 50: Whitney Ayers' 3-pointer with 8 seconds left lifted Odessa-Montour past visiting Newfield.

Whitney Ayers also assisted on twin sister Rebecca Ayers' 1,000th varsity point. It came on a 3-pointer in the second quarter.

* Union Springs 48, Dryden 32: The Wolves' Alexa Schooley led all scorers with 19 points, and Taylor White led the host Purple Lions with nine.

* Southern Cayuga 56, Moravia 47: The Indians' Stephanie Morse led all scorers with 30 points. Maria Heffernan had a team-high 18 points for the visiting Blue Devils.

* Spencer-Van Etten 42, Thomas A. Edison 38: Kari Rogers led the host Panthers with 17 points.
