New USDA hardiness map means warmer winters for Ithaca gardeners

ITHACA -- Since the government last updated its plant hardiness zone map in 1990, the country -- including Ithaca and the surrounding region -- has been steadily growing warmer, according to a new version of the map and a cadre of Cornell University experts.
