  1. Guest Viewpoint: We must build on Hinchey's legacy

A few weeks ago, I heard the news of Rep. Maurice Hinchey's retirement from Congress. As a fellow lawmaker and a constituent of his, I am deeply saddened by his departure from public service. I looked into and tried different groups and activities, but I finally decided to call Big Brother Big Sister, remembering the special memories I have of my own Big Sister.

  7. Guest Viewpoint: Don't forsake city's historic buildings in future plans

Fifty years ago, the late, great planning author Jane Jacobs came to Ithaca. She had just published the book "The Death and Life of Great American Cities," which would become an urban planning classic.
