Letter: Mayor doing her best with deer-cull issue
I was elected mayor of Cayuga Heights in 2008 with a mandate to resolve the deer overpopulation safety problem. Once elected, we were close to culling the herd due to deer-tick emergence, growing incidence of Lyme disease, outgrowth of deer-car accidents, vast deforestation of our community and the more uncommon human/deer or pet/deer conflict. The trustees' and my last majority vote in 2008 was for affirmatively acting on a cull-and-sterilize plan.
