The five members of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad have lived up to their band name in the more than 700 shows they've performed since the 2006 release of their debut album, "Slow Down." Their bass-heavy reggae grooves have earned the band a wide following, with appearances at a variety of festivals (including GrassRoots) around the country.
The Harlem Globetrotters, the legendary team of barnstorming basketball tricksters, will make another visit to Elmira's First Arena on Monday. This year, the Globetrotters offer a squad made up of favorite veteran performers and some new stars, including a man billed as the world's tallest professional basketball player.
Comedian and television personality Howie Mandell will perform his stand-up act Wednesday night at the Clemens Center in Elmira.
For rock fans, the Yardbirds will always remain the mid-'60s band that launched three legendary British blues guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. They also produced such touchstones as "For Your Love," "Over Under Sideways Down" and "Heart Full of Soul."
Ithaca — Local authors will read from their unfinished work at 4 p.m. Sunday as part of Buffalo Street Books' Works in Progress series.
